WHY IS PASSING TISA SO IMPORTANT?

The way Tennessee currently funds public K-12 education is broken. The formula used was created in 1992 – 30 years ago. It's out of date, underfunds our students, and fails to fairly distribute funds in a way that provides equal opportunities for every student in Tennessee. And it shows in the results. Less than 1 in 3 of students are learning on grade-level – a number that reaches less than 1 in 6 for students from low-income backgrounds.

The solutions for 21st century education problems won't come from the early 90's. We need a modern and fair funding formula that makes greater investments in our next generation.

The Tennessee Investment in Student Achievement Plan will create:

1. More Funding for every tennessee public school

2. Increased Student services like nursing, tutoring, and counseling

3. Raise in Teacher Pay

A student is more than a child at a desk or a number in a ratio. Every child in Tennessee deserves a public education that understands his or her unique gifts, abilities, and experiences and then works to support his or her learning while unlocking the student’s full potential to succeed.
